I am dressed as Kelly Slater the famous surfer.  He is in lots of surf books because he's a 10 time champ. The lit quiz was hard for me.

The Cornflake Lion

Once upon a time there was a lion called Cornflake, he was different from other lions.  All the other lions liked hunting and fighting but Cornflake liked something else.  He loved dancing to the beat of the drums.  He did it so often that he got very good at it, all the other lions laughed at him.  One day Cornflake decided to perform a show for the rest of the pride, before the show it was very exciting for him  to show them his moves. After the performance, all of the other lions were jealouse of Cornflakes moves.

My Granny

My Granny

Most people are lucky enongh to have four grandparent but I have only got one. My granny or Jean is very special to me because she is kind, caring and lovely.  I am the only grandson Granny has, she also has three granddaughters.

She was born in  Scotland and grew up on a small farm called Laggan,  which is near the coast. Granny trained as a nurse and midwife in Edinburgh, during her working life she  worked in hospitals in Scotland, Australian and then New Zealand.  The reason Granny ended up living in New Zealand is because she met and married a New Zealand farmer named Donald, he was my Grandfather except I never got to meet him.

She is 77 on christmas day so she gets double presents. Granny is 5 foot 10 so she is a pretty tall. She has diabetes so she is very used needles. She has got white hair, green coloured eyes and glasses.

Granny lives in Te Awamutu she plays a lot of bridge with her friends.  She does voluntary work at the Information Centre, the Health Shuttle and Books on Wheels.

I love her for all of these reasons.

Magic of Three Writing

This technique involves the connection in which a series of three sensory hits (involving any of three senses) are provided in a way the builds tension - the third hint leading directly to a revelation.

  1. You hear a sound. You look nothing. You dismiss it.
  2. You see a fleeting shadow. Again you try to figure out what it was, but you don't notice anything unusual. Still you start to worry.
  3. You feel something brush past you. You turn. There it is.

When using the Magic of Three, authors use red flag words or phrases to grab the reader's attention, to build suspense and to let the reader know that something important will happen. For example-all of a sudden...

Here is my example...
I heard laughing outside as I lay in bed. I am Otta and I will be turning 6 in a couple of days.

Suddenly I saw a big shadow jump over my desk. I rub my eyes to see if I can catch another glimpse of it. I see nothing.

All of a sudden I feel something crawling over my legs and feet. I jump up like a spring and wiggle until it runs away. I close the bedroom door and put my head under the sheet.

Out of nowhere I hear a chewing noise. I take the sheet off from over my head and I see it. A big black possum is eating carrots on my open window sill. I get out of bed and chase the possum away. Relieved I go back to bed and fall into a deep sleep
